Service Learning
In All Things, Love
Learning by serving is a core element of life at Salem Academy, inspired by our Moravian roots and embedded throughout our programming. Service Learning allows students to shift their focus from themselves to the needs of others, expanding their sense of empathy while gaining a greater appreciation for what they already have.
During their time at Salem Academy, all students participate in a variety of service learning experiences. Students can also participate in one of our service-oriented clubs, which include Key Club, Girl Up, and Student Ambassadors. Past community service partners include Love Out Loud, Second Harvest Food Bank, SECU Family House, and Sunnyside Ministries. Our students also host an annual Halloween Party for foster families and families from a local elementary school, providing a variety of games and activities for the children, including trick-or-treating in the residence halls. The party, which started in the 1980s, has become one of the school’s most beloved events.
