Joshua Coombes Inspires Salem Academy Students with His Message of Kindness in Action

In October, Salem Academy was honored to welcome Joshua Coombes to campus to share his story and mission. Coombes, a London-based hairstylist and founder of the global movement #DoSomethingforNothing, is known for offering free haircuts to people experiencing homelessness. Through his work, he amplifies human stories and inspires others to lead with empathy.

During his visit, students heard an inspiring talk about how powerful small acts of kindness can be and the ripple effect they can create in the world. Coombes encouraged students to see beyond appearances, connect through compassion, and recognize their own ability to make a difference.

The message Coombes shared deeply resonated with Salem Academy’s dedication to educate the whole person and integrate wellness into every aspect of student’s lives, including service to their community. His story was a powerful affirmation of the Academy’s commitment to infuse wellness, character, and leadership development into our students’ education.

Coombes’ visit to Salem and inspiring speech motivating his listeners to spread kindness provided Academy students with a powerful reminder that compassion put into action changes lives and communities.
