          Meet Isabelle Klass
Salem Academy senior Isabelle Klass has grown and changed tremendously since she entered the Academy as a freshman in 2022. When Isabelle and her parents were deciding where she would attend high school, Salem’s small class sizes and STEAM program stood out to them. Academy students being able to take classes at Salem College their junior and senior years also weighed heavily in their decision.
Isabelle, who plans to major in chemistry in college, is representing her classmates as senior class president this year. She said that during her time at Salem, she has grown “academically and in confidence and leadership.” Developing her leadership skills through roles on student council and as stage manager for the theater department has been especially instrumental in her growth. “At Salem, everyone is a leader,” Isabelle said.
Isabelle has already begun applying to college, with her top choice being Boston University. She feels prepared for this next step thanks to the Academy’s college-prep curriculum and the experience of sharing a campus with Salem College students. Salem’s STEAM focus, she said, ensures students “have a well-rounded curriculum … even though I want to study chemistry, I’m very involved in the arts through theater. It makes you a well-rounded person.”
“My favorite thing about the Salem community is how connected everyone is. If you value a close-knit community and academics, Salem is definitely the place for you,” Isabelle said when asked what she would tell prospective Salem Academy students and their families. Isabelle exemplifies what it means to be remarkable as a Salem Academy student, balancing college-level courses with her leadership duties as senior class president and stage manager. “Being able to balance all of it … Salem has really taught me how to do that.”
