The Salem Academy and College community is thrilled to host the next Mirror Talk Speaker Series event on November 13, featuring Salem Academy alumna Dr. Adrian Harrold Wood. Dr. Wood is an educator and New York Times bestselling author who is known for her honest and relatable storytelling on her blog, Tales of an Educated Debutante. It’s so special to have one of our alumna joining us to encourage and connect with girls in our community! We’re certain she’ll bring her trademark humor, heart, and authenticity to Mirror Talk. This event is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Elizabeth Myers, and Academy alumnae Katherine Myers and Leigh Myers.
The Mirror Talk Speaker Series was started by Salem College alumna Katherine Montgomery White and her daughters to create a forum where girls in kindergarten through 12th grade could interact with and learn from influential women. Programs like Mirror Talk support Salem Academy’s dedication to educating the whole person and nurturing students’ physical and emotional wellbeing. In support of the Academy’s mission to “foster compassionate and creative leaders, prepared for college and life, who chart their paths with character, curiosity, and courage,” all students participate in a wellness program that emphasizes self-awareness, healthy choices, and self-examination for the purpose of making a difference in the world.
Mirror Talk will be held in Hanes Auditorium in the Salem Academy & College Elberson Fine Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. on November 13. Attendance is free for K-12th grade girls and their parents; however, registration is required. We’re excited for our community to come together to hear from Dr. Wood and be inspired by her story!
